Animal Sentience
Emma recognises that in order for people to be motivated to protect animals, they first need to feel an emotional connection with them. She is therefore driven to produce animal portraits that provoke empathy in the viewer and remind us of the ways in which animals share in our ability to feel emotions such as pleasure, joy, pain, and distress.
